Privacy Policy

Last updated: 13 August 2026

This policy explains how About60 handles personal information when you use the About60 mobile app, the website at about60.com, or contact us for support.

Who we are

About60 is operated by ABOUT 60 LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17242758, with its registered office at 86 Tala Close, Surbiton, England, KT6 7EY. ABOUT 60 LTD is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

What information we collect

Account and profile information

  • Your name, display name, nickname or About60 handle.
  • Your email address and account identifiers.
  • Your chosen profile photograph or avatar.
  • Your sign-in method, such as email, Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In.
  • Account status, security and authentication information.

Passwords and sign-in credentials are handled by the relevant authentication provider. About60 does not receive your Apple or Google password and does not store your password in readable form.

Players, games and scoring

  • Player and team names entered into the app.
  • Scores, breaks, turns, game events and match history.
  • Game date, time, duration, format, venue and verification status.
  • Participant links, invitations, approvals, disputes, corrections and related timestamps.
  • Your game and venue privacy choices.

Another user may enter your name or nickname, include you in a game, create an unclaimed player profile, or invite you to claim shared history. If this happens and you want the information corrected or removed, contact us using the details below.

Friends, groups, check-ins and community activity

  • Friend requests, connections, group membership and invite links.
  • Check-in venue, time, visibility, optional message and tagged companions.
  • Presence or activity status used to support social features.
  • Notification preferences and notification-related activity.

Location and venue information

With your permission, the app uses your location while you are using relevant features to suggest nearby venues, show distance and verify that a check-in or venue-linked game is being recorded near the selected venue. Precise Location may be needed for these checks to work reliably.

A saved check-in or game may include the selected venue, time, calculated distance and a verification result. About60 does not use location to build an advertising profile or to track your movements continuously. You can disable location access in your device settings, but nearby venue and verification features may then be unavailable.

Camera and photographs

If you choose to add a profile photograph, the app may request access to your camera or photo library. Access is used only so you can take or select the image you choose to upload.

Device, notification and technical information

  • App installation and push-notification identifiers.
  • Device type, operating system, app version and language or region settings.
  • IP address, request timestamps, security logs and similar network information.
  • Technical diagnostics, error reports and crash information where diagnostics are enabled.

We do not sell personal information, show third-party advertising in the app, or use your information for cross-app advertising tracking.

Website and contact enquiries

If you use the contact form or email us, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you provide. Our hosting provider may also record basic technical information such as IP address, browser type and request logs for security and performance.

The website may display or link to content supplied by YouTube and other external services. Those providers may process technical information in accordance with their own privacy policies when their content is loaded or opened.

Where the information comes from

We receive information:

  • directly from you;
  • from your device when you grant a permission or use a feature;
  • from other About60 users who include you in a game, group, invite or player record;
  • from Apple, Google or another sign-in provider when you choose that sign-in method; and
  • from public, venue-supplied or third-party mapping and venue information.

How and why we use the information

  • To provide the service: create accounts, authenticate users, save and synchronise games, operate scoring, profiles, friends, groups, invitations, check-ins, venue discovery and notifications.
  • To respect your privacy choices: apply the visibility and venue privacy settings selected in the app.
  • To keep About60 secure: prevent misuse, investigate faults, protect accounts and enforce our Terms of Service.
  • To maintain and improve the service: diagnose crashes, fix defects and understand whether core features are working.
  • To communicate with you: send requested service messages, account notices, invitations, notifications and support replies.
  • To comply with law: meet legal obligations and respond to valid legal requests.

Our lawful bases

Under UK data protection law, we rely on:

  • Contract: where processing is needed to provide the app and services you request under our Terms of Service.
  • Legitimate interests: to secure, support, troubleshoot and improve About60, respond to enquiries and protect our legal rights, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Consent: where you choose an optional device permission or where consent is otherwise required. You can withdraw a device permission in your settings.
  • Legal obligation: where we must process or retain information to comply with law.

Who can see your information

Some features are designed to share information with other people. Depending on the feature and the option you choose, game summaries, player names, check-ins, venue details, group activity or profile information may be visible to you only, selected friends or groups, game participants, or the wider About60 community.

Venue privacy controls determine whether a venue-linked game can appear on a venue page. Other participants may still retain their own game record. Information exported, shared or captured by another user is outside About60's control once it leaves the service.

Service providers and other disclosures

We use trusted providers to operate About60. These may include:

  • Google Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, databases, file storage, server functions, synchronisation, notifications and technical diagnostics.
  • Apple for Sign in with Apple, Apple Push Notification service, App Store distribution and Apple Maps links.
  • Google for Google Sign-In, mapping or place information and notification delivery on supported devices.
  • YouTube, mapping and navigation providers when you choose to view external content or open directions.
  • Website, email and support providers used to host the site and respond to enquiries.

We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect users or the service, in connection with professional advice, or as part of a genuine sale, merger or restructuring of the business. We do not sell your personal information.

Provider information is available from Firebase, Google and Apple.

International processing

Some providers process information outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States and other countries where they operate. Where required, we rely on recognised safeguards such as adequacy regulations or approved contractual protections.

How long we keep information

  • Account and profile information is normally kept while your account remains active.
  • Game, social and check-in information is kept while needed to provide history and shared features, unless it is deleted earlier.
  • Unclaimed player records are kept while needed for invitations and shared game history, or until they are claimed, corrected or removed.
  • Support enquiries and security records are kept for as long as reasonably needed to deal with the enquiry, prevent abuse, meet legal obligations or establish legal claims.
  • Deleted information may remain temporarily in restricted backups until those backups are overwritten through normal retention cycles.

When an account is deleted, About60 removes the account, profile and private account data through the deletion process. Shared game history may remain in an anonymised form so that other participants' records remain usable. We may retain limited information where the law requires it or where necessary to prevent fraud or resolve a legal claim.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • change app visibility and venue privacy settings;
  • turn camera, photo, location and notification permissions off in your device settings;
  • edit or delete supported content within the app;
  • initiate account deletion from the account settings in the app; and
  • contact us to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection or portability where applicable.

You may also withdraw consent where we rely on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a rights request.

Children

About60 is not intended for children under 13. A person under 18 should use the service only with permission from a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information contrary to this policy, contact us so we can investigate and remove it where appropriate.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information. No internet or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Complaints

Please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app, website or law changes. The current version and its update date will remain available on this page. We will provide an additional notice where a change materially affects how personal information is used.
